Use of an Online Education Platform to Enhance Patients’ Knowledge About Radiation in Diagnostic Imaging

An study published in the Journal of the American College of Radiology found that patients who used a web-based interactive education platform (HealthLoop) were more likely to say that they knew the definition of ionizing radiation, better understood which imaging modalities use ionizing radiation, and were more likely to correctly rank the relative amounts of ionizing radiation used by the different modalities. Web-based interactive education was well accepted by patients, with 85% reporting it to be helpful or very helpful.
